OMN Information Page

(OMN is the FAA identifier for our Ormond Beach Airport)

Ormond Beach’s airport facility is one of hundreds of fields built to accommodate military pilot training during WWII. Most were decommissioned after the war, but some were acquired by nearby municipalities in anticipation of a boom in general aviation. As part of the acquisition process and to qualify for federal funding for maintenance and improvements, the municipalities agree to maintain the airport as part of the National Airspace System.

Some may wish the airport would “go away,” but the reality is that it's here to stay—it predates our neighborhood. It employs a number of neighbers and friends, and provides an economic contribution to the community, as well.
